Let’s get one thing straight. This arsehole is not a Lord, you cannot buy an aristocratic title in the UK. You can buy a Manor House and be Lord of The Manner (which is what he did, I think) but that would make him Scott Disick, Lord of the Manner of wherever. But that’s almost like owning some property and calling yourself ‘John Smith, Landlord of wherever the fuck’. Buying a Manor House for the title is gauche as fuck and nobody with a real title (or anyone with any common sense) would think about him with anything but derision, mockery and a little bit of pity.

I’m trying to figure out what hip hop fan, even if you weren’t born then, doesn’t know who Kool Moe Dee is? Even if you aint particularly a fan…I didn’t know Kool Moe Dee was considered unsung. I feel like I’m the clueless one lol.

Not many people under…(I don’t know) 25 know Moe Dee. People who are into Old School will know him and some people will go ‘oh yeah!’ if you say the dude who says ‘Wild Wild West’ in a deep voice on Will Smith’s version but beyond that I wouldn’t expect anyone to know him.

but really I think it was Avon who was the real criminal mind behind things. It’s Avon who came out on top, sort of. He survived in the end, Stringer tried to manipulate things too much whereas Avon was a lot more straight forward, he probably would have taken out Marlo and remained the dominant force on the westside. He also took out Stringer in a much more definite way than Stringer what Stringer did to him.

Melvin D. Williams (born 1941), known as Little Melvin, is a former drug trafficker and organized crime figure in his native Baltimore, Maryland. Melvin Williams was born in 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. In the 1960s, Williams was a well known gambler and pool player in Baltimore. He gained notoriety in Baltimore for his role in quelling rioting in the city in the wake of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr in early April 1968. By that time, Williams already had an extensive criminal record and was involved in heroin and cocaine trafficking.

Melvin Williams was involved with drug trafficking throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. During that time Williams was periodically arrested on minor charges. In the early 1980s, federal agents along with the Baltimore Police Department launched an investigation into his activities. On December 6, 1984, Williams was arrested on cocaine trafficking charges. On February 7, 1985, he was convicted and sentenced to 34 years in prison.

While still in prison, his life story was featured in a series of articles written by future creator of The Wire, David Simon. “Easy Money: Anatomy of a Drug Empire” a series of five articles was published in the Baltimore Sun in 1987. Williams was released on parole in 1996. He then went on to appear in the HBO show The Wire, which explores the Baltimore drug trade and features some of Little Melvin’s real life exploits. It is also thought that he serves as the basis for the character Avon Barksdale.
